HOW DOES A CONSULT LOOK LIKE?
First, I'll ask what brings you to me. This will be the starting point for your health interview. Then follow the elements characteristic of Chinese medicine diagnostics: pulse examination and tongue examination. The former involves gentle pressure in several places around the radial artery around the wrist. Then I'll ask you to stick out your tongue for a moment.
This will allow me to make a diagnosis and decide what to do next. I will explain quickly what acupuncture looks like. While you're resting with the needles in your body for about 20 minutes, I'll have time to prescribe a herbal mixture or other recommendations for you. There will also be time for any questions.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE FIRST CONSULT?
2-3 hours before the visit, don’t drink coffee or eat anything that stains the tongue (e.g. beetroot, curry). If you scrape the coating off your tongue, don’t do it on the day of your consult. You can brush your tongue with a toothbrush while brushing your teeth.
If you have current test results, you can take them with you. It's not necessary, but it will always give me additional information about your health.
If you take any medications, write down their names - I have to include them in my assessment.
It's best to be on time, but you can be up to a few minutes late.
If you feel like it, bring loose, comfortable clothing. Sometimes I need access to the thigh or chest area, which requires the removal of some clothing. I have blankets on site to cover you, but if you feel uncomfortable, bring shorts and a T-shirt with a loose neckline. I only see one person at a time, so there will be no one else in the treatment room except you.
You can write down the most important complaints that you want to report if you’re afraid that you’ll forget to mention them during the visit.
